just call me the professor...

'cos I'm constantly edumacating my coworkers about their damn ignorances...

one coworker of mine was reading an article in the newspaper about indie music, and asked why the picture of the girl in the article was white, nerdy, wearing a cardigan and glasses... he said she didn't look like she was from india. swear to shit, he actually said that.

he did talk about how girls in big glasses were hot, and I mentioned how he should avoid suicide girls, what with their various fetish shit and hipster girls being all nekkid and whatnot. another coworker (younger girl, this time) asked what kind of music the suicide girls made. she added them on her myspace but didn't get it and just thought they were really skanky... I had to explain to her that suicide girls was actually pornography. she thought that meant hardcore, so I then had to explain all the "artistic" fetish type softcore poses and shit. quite the appropriate conversation for work, of course. she's kinda odd tho, she's very self conscious probably because her boyfriend is a schmuck.

a bit later, the "indie" coworker was talking about his daughter's avatar (she was there today 'cos he didn't have a babysitter or something). he was talking about her avatar as if it were a brand or something. I had to explain the cyberpunk notion of "avatar" as being a digital representation, an idea that's existed for decades, and how it was actually stolen from theology as the physical manifestation of a divine being...

it's kinda odd. I was terrible in school, never paid attention in class and I'm not very well read. and yet, the people who surround me in the plumbing industry are a constant reminder of how dumb people can be...
