mission accomplished.

we officially warmed our house last night. for the most part, it seemed to be a rousing success. I made homemade pizzas that went over quite well, catered to a couple of allergies, and to the best of my knowledge, didn't kill anyone. turnout was larger than anticipated, so there wasn't a ton of pizza to go around, but it was tasty nonetheless.

there was ample boozage flowing, we're pretty sure that's the first time we've ever seen EVERYONE drunk simultaneously. we played a lengthy game of apples to apples, which was nice to finally get some use out of after buying it three years ago... we also rocked the house with several hours worth of karaoke revolution party... it started slow, with no one willing to sing much. after I Demonstrated how easy it was for a tone deaf moron to score platinum repeatedly, other people started up as well. by the end of the night, after most people had left, ann and miyuki pwned my ass hardcore. ann scored a perfect 50k points for "if you could only see" at 3am. miyuki scored a perfect 50k for "time after time," "do you really want to hurt me?," "material girl" and some song called "I'll be" that she'd never even heard before. four perfect scores. she only sang about six songs. and granted, she had to do "material girl" twice because she JUST missed it the first go around. to add insult to injury, while I was driving ann home at 3:30am, she had a perfect score on "dust in the wind" as well.

me = tone deaf moron
miyuki = karaoke revolution genius

it's sort of sad too, since I had mentioned earlier in the party that this was one of the few games I could actually hold my own against, and possibly even beat, gamers. I spoke too soon. in all, I must have sang at least twenty songs. I had NO voice whatsoever by the end of the night, which really didn't help my rendition of "the greatest love of all" go over very well. we've unlocked 39 of 50 songs, most with platinum or higher, and essentially the only ones left are either much too difficult for us ("me and bobby mcgee," "crazy in love") or songs none of us have ever heard of.

at least last night was the first time in over a week I went to bed and saw something other than bejeweled when I closed my eyes. I got to see the KR slider bar instead. puzzle quest has become somewhat of an obsession around here. to the point that my birthday arrived three months early in the form of my very own pink DS, so I'd stop stealing miyuki's. sadly, I spent half of my work day friday playing puzzle quest at my desk. I would have felt bad, except my "boss" (the guy who thinks he's my boss anyway) spent most of the day sleeping in an empty, darkened office. if he can get paid (about $60k/year) to sleep, I can get paid to sit at my desk and answer the phone when it rings...

we're hoping for a relaxing zombie jebus day... not much planned, other than a trip to the outlet mall to buy miyuki a new spring coat. I'll likely find a bench and play puzzle quest while she shops...
