I'm a sports fan. at least when it comes to the home team.

so I thought it was pretty cool that the seattle seahawks are playing in the superbowl. northwest teams never get any recognition. we've only had sports teams for thirty years here, compared to the 100+ of some east coast cities. plus, seattle is tucked away out of sight of most of the country.

so seattle is up against the pittsburgh steelers in the superbowl. and they're four point underdogs, despite being the #1 seed and pittsburgh the #6. fine. I didn't expect them to walk away with anyway, but I did expect it to be a good game.

it's a fucking travesty. pittsburgh was given a touchdown on a play that wasn't. it was the SAME GOD DAMNED PLAY that cost them the playoffs several years back, when vinnie testaverde was down, pushed the ball into the end zone after the fact, and the ref blew the call. that's one of the reasons the NFL has instant replay now. too bad the ref blew the fucking call AGAIN.

to add insult to injury, there have been THREE game turning penalties against seattle. game turning penalties that john madden and chris berman, two of the most esteemed veteran sportscasters in the world, both called bad or non-calls. three calls that negated points and momentum for seattle. three calls that directly led to pittsburgh points. offensive pass interfere against darrell jackson, negating a touchdown. holding on the offensive line, negating a pass play to the 1 yard line. illegal block against matt hasselbeck following an interception (because the previous play was negated in the previous sentence) on a legal tackle.

it's fucking bullshit. I haven't seen THIS much bias in a sporting event since I watched pro wrestling as a kid. and even then, I think this is worse. I'm done with the NFL. paul tagliabue, the commissioner of the NFL, can personally kiss my hairy, white ass.
